Oliver Poveda Zavala, a South American bass-baritone from Quito, Ecuador, is a graduate of the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.
In 2023, he performed as Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus with Opera in Williamsburg and completed an apprenticeship with Central City Opera, singing Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette and covering Elmiro in Otello. He has collaborated with companies like Opera Steamboat, Boulder Opera, and Denver Immersive Opera, performing roles such as Colline (La bohème), Leporello (Don Giovanni), and Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro).
His repertoire also includes Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Simone (Gianni Schicchi), and Duke Bluebeard (Bluebeard’s Castle). A two-time winner of the Ann Logan Craft Vocal Competition, he has earned recognition for his artistry, including the Sherry Sheperd Sargent Memorial Award.
